"We've decided finally to go ahead and mark the 10th year of the bands existance with a unique show that will feature a lot of unusual material as well as some classic blasters. Older songs that have seldom seen an airing. Some that haven't been heard live for many years or ever. We will be filming the show for an anniversary live album \ DVD to be released later in the year on Goat of Mendes Records."
Support for this special event will be provided by Kingsize Blues, Ted Maul and Breed Apart. Tickets are on sale here.
1st June 2007 - Antichrist released, the tour is over and all is well
AKERCOCKE have completed their controversial headline tour, and released their fifth album "Antichrist" on Monday this week, including a limited-edition version with two bonus songs in a deluxe super jewel case.
Mendonca continues: "Thank you to all the true Akercocke fans who went out and bought 'Antichrist' this week instead of downloading illegal poor quality MP3s. It's your support that enables us to continue the project and make further albums."
Despite problems in Northern Ireland in the wake of their appearance on the "Nolan Live" show, the band completed all dates and enthralled fans by playing new material from the album in advance of release.
Frontman Jason Mendonca reflects on the tour and the controversy: "A huge thank you to all the brothers and sisters who came out and supported the U.K. tour. The excursion with comrades CEPHALIC CARNAGE, TED MAUL and BURNING SKIES was a resounding success. It was an honour to play to so many enthusiastic fans — thank you all. The Dublin and Belfast shows were superb, despite the threat of adversity from certain establishments."
The band is lining up more live performances with details to be revealed shortly. Akercocke's new video for the track "Axiom" will also be available to view imminently.

18th January 2007 - Important announcement
Bassist Peter Theobalds announces his suprise departure from Akercocke as founder members Jason Mendonca and David Gray celebrate its tenth anniversary this year. Peter has said of his departure:
"It's been possibly the most difficult decision in my life to make but after 10 years of the beast that Akercocke has become, it's time to hit the highway in search of new adventures. My reasons are many and varied but the principal factor has been that the original vibe that drove me to play has gone, the fun, the utter immersion of the music and friendship and the camaraderie has been slowly eroding for me personally over the last year or so.
It's given me so many unforgettable moments and brought me into contact with some amazing human beings and situations and I shall sincerely miss all of those aspects. But my heart tells me its time to seek other ideals and situations. I will NOT be giving up music however and will continue to bash out some form of pseudo metallic noise, until chronic rheumatoid arthritis turns my hands into claws or Alzheimers finally puts paid to what little common sense I currently possess.
Massive massive respect to all those people that have been so unbelievably supportive and encouraging: - my family, the fans, the crews, the bands and other random maniacs that have been there for me all the way. I'd love to do a thank you list but it would just be so long and I'd inevitably forget someone and get branded a total cunt (again), so I'll just say that I raise a glass to all of your honour!
See you in the pit dear fiends. Respect P."
Akercocke are pleased to announce Peter Benjamin (Concept, Corpsing, Pantheist) as their new bass player, as the band commence work on their fifth studio album at Goat of Mendes Studios London.

We have been rehearsing a lot to bring these oddments up to speed with the rest of the set and hope that this show in our home town will make for a rather special live experience."

Akercocke confirmed for European festival assault. Playing along side such heavyweights as Motorhead, Guns and Roses and Saxon, Akercocke will make their first ever French appearance at Hell Fest as well as their first appearance at the legendary Graspop Festival. www.hellfest.fr www.graspop.beMuch to the regret of the band, Akercocke have had to pull out of next weeks show with Venom and Onslaught at the Garage in Glasgow. Mendonca says - "Due to circumstances beyond our control it's logistically impossible for us to make the Glasgow show. We're really disappointed. Dave and Matt had agreed to play two sets that night (one with Akercocke and one with The Berserker) which would have been a mammoth feat. Personally I was looking forward to delivering a tirade of Satanic violence before heading round the corner to be pummelled by Aussie distorto terror blasts. Our apologies to our fans in Glasgow but there really is no way we can make this date happen.".

15th November 2005 - Gig confusion?
Mortician vocalist Will Rahmer has fallen ill in Eastern Europe half way through the bands ongoing tour with AKERCOCKE and BLOOD RED THRONE. Mortician will be continuing their current run of European dates with members of Blood Red Throne and Akercocke assisting with bass and vocal duties until it is ascertained whether Rahmer will be able to rejoin the monstrous package.
New Yorks finest request that their metal brothers and sisters come out to the shows and continue to support the tour. The brutality will continue!

9th November 2005 - Gig confusion?
I have just read in the guestbook a post from someone called Arahant in Slovenia regarding the tour dates.
I get the information direct from the band themselves so what is on the website is likely to be correct, but to check up at this time is difficult at the moment as the band are obviously away touring in Europe.
I think I can speak on behalf of the band, we would hate for you to travel to see Akercocke to find there is no gig. The best thing you can do is telephone the venue you are unsure about and ask them if the gig is happening. I do recall there were some initial dates that had changed about two weeks ago in an update. I'm pretty sure 19th Nov is Italy though. Morticians website also has this information.
Hope you get it worked out. John (webmaster)
